A hiking festival in Gauja National Park
Once a year we gather 300 people in summer-camp format: teams with charismatic counselors, contests, cauldron food and a final raft trip down the Gauja.
Great for beginners and veterans alike: the route suits everyone, and the counselors won't let you lose heart. Big Hike 2026 took place on June 5–7 — below is everything about how it went.
How it went in 2026
2027 will be even biggerThree cars of the Riga–Melturi train — entirely ours. We split into teams, meet the counselors and hit the trail to the Zvārtes iezis cliff. In the evening — camp, food from giant cauldrons and songs by the fire until the stars.
